Blog: Social networking sites
1. Facebook
It is almost like the jack of all trades in the social media
world. Users are able to share photos, articles, plan events and use a very
efficient messaging system to communicate with their peers. Sometimes, this may
even be seen as a down side since it tries to be the best at everything. It is
very simple to get started on Facebook and signing up is very straight forward.
2. Twitter
On Twitter, users are only able to post, read and share
tweets with a limited amount of characters at their disposable. They can
contain graphics, videos or texts but max out at a character limit of 280. This
is a more niche platform and users usually communicate amongst themselves since
it is not common to share content directly from other third party platforms. They
also incorporate hashtags quite a bit on the platform which allows users to
easily categorize tweets and ideas into topic based.
3. Instagram
This platform mainly allows its users to post photos or
videos with a caption. There is also a direct messaging function as well. Users
are able to upload short videos and/or stories that others can follow and see
for a certain amount of time before it is taken off the platform.
4. Reddit
One of my favorite social media platforms! It is separated into
individual ran communities that are known as subreddits which each focus on a
specific topic and content. Reddit allows users to stay anonymous when they
post and participate in discussions. Users are able to submit their own
questions, links, photos, graphics and so on. Other users can up vote or down
vote them while also commenting and submitting their own opinions.
